Ed Sheeran Wants To Buy Town

Now, we all know about Gamechanger 20 Ltd, the company which was set up by the US consortium and which has been in negotiations to buy Town from current owner Marcus Evans, but what we did not know was that Sheeran himself was interested in buying the club!

Although Ed Sheeran was born in Halifax, it is common knowledge that he has followed the Blues for many years, and could often be seen in the stands – when crowds were permitted to attend.

Apart from his musical achievements, few people are aware that is also a successful businessman, and he is also an accomplished record producer and has played some interesting parts in occasional acting roles too.  It was in  December 1995, that he moved with his family from Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire to Framlingham in Suffolk. This was the beginning of his love affair with Ipswich Town football club, and his commitment to the cause has not waned since –  even if the Blues fortunes most certainly have!

Unfortunately, due to his lack of earning – which has meant no live gigs since Covid, his financial clout has been severely limited, and this is why has asked for help from other leading lights in the entertainment business. Onboard now we believe, are his good friends Elton John, Andre Bocelli and Eric Clapton, and together, they have been in negotiations to outbid the offer that is still sitting on Evans table from Brett Johnson!

Now you may think that because this is the 1st of April this is some kind of practical joke and you would, of course, be right. Dreams are made of this but for now, that is all it is.

That said, I would love nothing more than to see Ed Sheeran play a more hands-on role at the club, in whatever capacity that was, and who knows, maybe one day he might be rich enough to buy this club by himself! In the meantime, we will just have to keep this dream alive and hope that he adds to his MBE and his estimated net worth of 200 million quid in the years to come!
