Do It For The Gaffer Lads

I guess social media is frowned upon by the hierarchy, but I hope some Ipswich Town players will read this, as it is a positive endorsement of your abilities. The squad, as a whole, is talented of this there is little doubt. But technical ability only accounts for about 40% of the DNA of a footballer. The other 60% is about confidence, and we see this at every level of football.

Now what I want you guys to do this evening is to prove the doubters wrong.  If you require an incentive, then do it for the gaffer. He is being pilloried by the local press, who appears to have jumped on the bandwagon of discontent. He is getting a bad rap, and I don’t think he deserves it, but if he goes then where does your future lie? Thankfully, owner Marcus Evans shares the same school of thought it seems and is still backing the boss. Only through continuity can we gain any stability and we have this already. It is just a case of doing some fine-tuning, that’s all.

There is another big cog in the wheel and it is from a once species, which is spreading like a swarm of  Locusts. The lesser spotted fickle football fan is seen much more often these days and is said to reside around Portman Road. The only way to remove it from our midst is to win and win again! Tonight is your chance lads to prove the cynics wrong. A victory this evening would do two things.  1. Break the voodoo that has seen us fail to beat a top-six side. 2 Leapfrog promotion rivals Sunderland and perhaps take us back into the play-off places.

I believe in you, and I am not the only one. Yes, there is a lot of negative noise out there, but it is not coming from me. We should have got a draw against Peterborough. In spells, we played really well. As captain Luke Chambers pointed out afterwards, we played with more intensity against the Posh, but we have to start taking our chances. For this to happen, decision making is key. Get an early goal, and confidence will run through your veins once again. And when it does, don’t let the pressure off. Sitting on a lead is fraught with danger, and is not good for supporters with a heart condition!

I am backing you to win tonight and against the odds. I know the squad has so much talent just waiting to express itself. Injuries have not helped our cause, but if we play with a collective belief, then the local rags will be forced to print the truth!
