A strong second half showing from Ipswich Town today won us a three nil victory over Colchester United.

Colchester had the balance of the first half in fairness, but it remained nil nil going into the half time break and manager Mick McCarthy would’ve had both positives and negatives from the first 45 minutes.

The second half however was another story as Frank Nouble grabbed himself a brace after the restart and then Jack Marriott completed the scoring.

New goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski also had a stormer pulling off plenty of good saves over the first period, so his intention of ousting Dean Gerken is definitely being backed up by his efforts.

Ipswich:

Gerken (Bialkowski 46), Hewitt (Veseli 70), Chambers (Smith 70), Berra, Mings (Parr 66), Anderson (Taylor 66), Wordsworth (Tabb 70), Hyam (Skuse 66), Henshall (Stewart 70), Nouble (Marriott 70), Murphy (Bajner 59).

Goals – Nouble (54, 56), Marriott (77).

Colchester:

Lewington (Walker 70), Clohessy (Wright 70), Eastman (Thompson 70), Kent (Okuonghae 70), Gordon (O`Donoghue 70), Eastmond (Szmodics 70), Gilbey (Moncur 46), Vose (Sembi-Ferris 70), Holman (Bonne 70), Ambrose (Wright 66), Sears (Massey 70).

Att: 3,519 (1,566 away).
