Sunderland have recalled midfielder Jack Colback from his loan at Ipswich Town, the club’s official website has confirmed.

Colback, who has previously claimed that he would be keen on a permanent move away from the Black Cats, has returned to the Stadium of Light as Steve Bruce looks for additional support ahead of his team’s FA Cup Third Round tie against Notts County on Saturday. The news comes as something of a blow for Town boss Roy Keane, who has made it known that he would like to keep the 21-year-old at Portman Road.

Decisions have yet to be made on the other loanees still at Ipswich, but Keane has been boosted by Tottenham Hotspur giving clearance for Jake Livermore to play for Town in Sunday’s FA Cup tie at Chelsea. The Blues have made a similar request to Celtic regarding Darren O’Dea but are yet to learn of their decision.

Do you think Ipswich should try to sign Jack Colback on a permanent deal? Which of the other loanees would you like to see remain at the club? Have your say by joining Vital Ipswich:
