National reports suggest that Ipswich Town manager Jim Magilton is set to swoop for Northern Ireland international midfielder Sammy Clingan.

Clingan, 24, is primarily a central midfielder but can also operate on the right wing as he done so for Northern Ireland in the past.

However, the likeliness of the rumour materialising seems improbable considering that Town are not currently in the market for a new midfielder.

In other news, Carlisle’s young goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, who qualifies for the Republic of Ireland, has been linked with the Blues and recently-relegated Birmingham City.

Westwood has been in sparkling form between the sticks this season for Carlisle and was one of the main reasons for Carlisle’s impressive defensive record.
