Blackpool have completed the signing of Ipswich’s expensive flop Michael Chopra.

The troubled striker will make his Tangerines’ bow against his first club Newcastle United, ironically sponsored by pay day loan company Wonga.

Chopra managed just 18 goals in 53 appearances in two seasons at Ipswich marked by scrapes with the law, gangsters and need a hefty loan from the Blues to pay off gambling debts. He was also warned off racetracks after breaching rules.

The 29 year old has signed a one year contract at Bloomfield Road with the option of a further year and his departure will help manager Mick McCarthy strengthen his squad with players willing to fight for the cause.
