Results of Vital Ipswich poll on the ongoing David Norris contract saga
Ipswich Town captain David Norris has said that he wants a three year deal if he is to stay at Portman Road. The question we’ve been asking you this week is, does he deserve it?
Norris took over as Ipswich skipper in the wake of predecessor Jon Walters’ rather acrimonious departure to Stoke City in August. Walters had been top scorer at the club last season but Norris immediately took up the mantle in his absence with 10 goals so far this campaign in all competitions, as well as putting in plenty of impressive performances in the Blues midfield.
However, with his contract at Portman Road set to expire at the end of the season, Norris turned down the club’s last offer of a two-year extension in the hope of securing a three year deal. With no such offer forthcoming, the £2 million signing from Plymouth Argyle could well be set to leave for nothing in the summer, with Championship rivals Crystal Palace and Portsmouth having previously expressed an interest in his services.
So does Norris deserve the three year deal that he has been asking for? We’ve been asking you for your opinion, and here’s how you responded:
75% – Yes
25% – No

The verdict is clear – Vital Ipswich readers are overwhelmingly in favour of Norris being given a three year contract, with three quarters of respondents believing that the Blues skipper has warranted such a deal with his performances this season. Only a quarter argued against the idea, suggesting that the majority of fans will be disappointed if the 30-year-old does walk in the summer. Indeed, the player himself is reportedly keen to stay whilst the club are eager to retain his services, so the deadlock needs to be broken quickly if the outcome is not a letdown for all concerned.
