Jim Magilton confirmed that a dejected Jason De Vos will retire at the end of the season after missing out on the play-offs with Ipswich, despite beating Hull 1-0.

De Vos had been widely tipped to pursue a career in media in his homeland of Canada and despite Magilton confirming that despite the offer of a new contract, the Wizard turned it down.

De Vos joined Ipswich in 2004 on a free transfer and oh so nearly went up in Joe Royle’s penultimate season as boss, finishing third. After a disappointing 15th placed finish, he was appointed captain by his predecessor and then-new manager Jim Magilton.

JDV retires at the age of 34, and the man-mountain will be sorely missed. Good luck and thanks Jason.
