IPSWICH have suuccessfully been granted permission from Northampton to approach and interview Colin Calderwood.

Town’s Director of Communications Terry Baxter told the official site: ‘Ipswich Town have asked Northampton for permission to speak to Colin Calderwood about the vacant manager’s position at Portman Road and that permission has been granted.

He continued ‘Colin is one of a number of candidates being interviewed for the position.’

Calderwood’s preferred passing style of football is likely to suit Town as it did with Northampton, as he lead the Cobblers to promotion to League 1 last season.

However if offered the job, Northampton would seek compensation due to Calderwood’s contract expiring in 2008.
