Richard Butler scored in the final few minutes for non-league Needham Market, as they knocked out the reserves in the semi-final of the Suffolk Premier Cup.

Ipswich’s Reggie Lambe was brought down in the box just 15 minutes into the match at Bloomfield, with Dean Bowditch stepping up to take the penalty. However, the striker’s effort was poor to say the least, with Needham keeper Liam Jones comfortably saving. Deano also fired wide from the rebound.

The home side had ex-Ipswich midfielder Kevin Horlock playing in defence, while the Blues featured the likes of Jaime Peters and Matt Richards.

Lambe then conceded the free-kick that led to Needham’s goal just three minutes before the end. The initial effort was cleared only as far as defender Butler, who hit a bullet of a shot into the back of the Town net.

Danny Laws’ men now progress into the final against Lowestoft Town on 28th April at Portman Road.
