Remember him? Alex Bruce will be happy to stay at Ipswich next season, although accepts that his future may be elsewhere.

It’s been an eventful 2009/10 season for Bruce – he started off the season in the team with previous captain Gareth McAuley looking set to leave. Bruce was even named skipper until he injured his groin, McAuley came back into the side and formed a solid partnership with Damien Delaney. The former Birmingham man then couldn’t force his way back into the side and was loaned to Leicester.

One hernia operation later, the 25-year-old could be just a couple of games away from the Premiership with the Foxes, although he has only made three appearances since joining.

The centre half or right back says he will mull over his future in the summer, with now just one year left on his Ipswich contract: ‘We`ll have to wait and see what happens but I have an Ipswich contract to next summer and will enjoy coming back if wanted. If Ipswich want me back next season I shall be proud to pull the shirt back on again as I`ve always had a good relationship with the fans.

‘I`m not sure where I stand as I haven`t heard from Ipswich since January. It`s nice to feel wanted and appreciated!

‘Right now I’m just concentrating on helping Leicester into the top flight.’
