Titus Bramble is moving closer to signing for Ipswich after playing for them at Gillingham and being lined up for the friendly at Barnet on Saturday.

The 31-year-old is a free agent after being released by Sunderland and had been training at West Ham.

But after approaching the Blues Bramble, who sponsors the academy at Town where he started his career, has been training with Ipswich and McCarthy has not ruled out the possibility he would sign him – if the defender does not get a better offer elsewhere.

Bramble admits a move to Ipswich is a possibility and told the club website: “I`m not ruling anything out. There are a few options I`ve got. The main thing for me at the moment is to make sure I`m training and make sure I`m right for the start of the season, wherever it may be.”

“Ipswich is in my heart. I`m from the town, I`m still a fan, the club is everything to me. I`ve always looked out for the results since I`ve left.

“In the past few seasons I`ve been disappointed because I think they`re a Premiership club. At the end of last season under Mick they did very well, so I don`t see why they can`t push for the Premiership this season.

“It`s no secret, I`m a big Ipswich fan. I said when I left all those years ago, I said I would come back and play football there again one day.”

On his day Bramble is an immense defender but sometimes his lack of concentration ca let him dow, that said both Luke and Tommy would benefit from having him around.
