Contraty to earlier reports, Dean Bowditch could still remain at the club and he is yet to hold talks over his future. This should happen in the next couple of days. The 21 year old is attracting attention from various lower league clubs, notably Stevange Borough.

Bowditch made a bright start to his Town career, but where did it go wrong?

Bowditch made his debut against Norwich at Carrow Road in 2003. At the time, manager Joe Royle famously told the press ‘our secret is out now’.

Bowditch was supposed to be the next big thing at the club, with Premiership clubs chasing him that January transfer window. Liverpool were being strongly linked with a £1.5m bid, but the message from the club and supporters was ‘that is not enough!’

Even after Bowditch had been at the club 5 years, but was still only 15, Manchester United tried to sign him, but failed.

Bowditch went on to make 46 appearances for Ipswich, scoring 9 goals. This included a memorable hat-trick over Watford at Portman Road.

The future seemed to be bright for ‘the next big thing’ however as is with alot of footballers careers, the injuries started to come.

Unfortunately the injuries didn’t go away again, meaning Ipswich improved vastly, signed new players and Bowditch was pushed to the sidelines. Eventually he was sent out on loan to get his confidence back.

This began a trip around the country for Bowditch, which saw him visit and play for Burnley, Wycombe, Brighton and Northampton before returning to Brighton.
This spell saw him net just 5 goals in 39 games in much lower leauges.

Unfortunately this was the beginning of the end, and despite his mini-comeback in the Ipswich reserves late this season, Magilton is likely to decide it is best for the club and the player if he moves on and continues his career elsewhere.
