Mick MccCrthy admitted Ipswich fans booing the side at half-time helped him motivate his side into a second half victory.

Despite being well on top in the first half Town failed to take their chances and ended up going a goal behind three minutes before half time as Joel Grant netted for Yeovil.

But then goals from Daryl Murphy and Aaron Cresswell gave Ipswich a come from behind win for the second home game ina row.

“We got the bird going off and I think we deserved it for not being good enough to go in front,” McCarthy said in the post match press conference.

“I was livid at our inability to make the final pass – we were trying to score too quickly. We were putting in crosses from bad positions, they were getting blocked and they were breaking on us.

“We just didn`t do enough of the quality stuff to be in front and I pointed that out to them at half-time.”

Mccarthy knew things were not going to be easy and added: “I sat in here after the game on Saturday and told everyone that talk of a comfortable evening against Yeovil was rubbish

“The players have just said it in there – this win was harder than beating Middlesbrough at the weekend.

“I don`t mind getting the bird for not being good enough to be in front when we should have been, I just hope it`s not because anyone thinks Yeovil are beneath our dignity in any way.

“We`re not that good to think we`re just going to roll teams over. You have to earn very single point.’

We all know it wasn’t great but it is another three points and we are 11th – happy days with more to come.
