Blues boss Mick McCarthy has secured former Colchester United and Bristol City keeper Dean Gerken on a two-year contract.

Gerken has enjoyed a good trial period with Ipswich Town after doing well in training and making a good showing at Shelbourne and Crawley.

The 28-year-old, Essex-born keeper, made 127 appearances for the U’s in League One and the Championship.

He becomes the third Bristol City player to sign for Town from the Robins after midfielder Cole Skuse and winger Paul Anderson also joined.
