Ipswich can rightly feel aggrieved by a penalty decison which ended their proud record of clean sheets stretching back 484 minutes but have only themsleves to blame at losing at home against Hull.
Guirane N’Daw had a poor first half and bowled over David Meyler with what looked like an old-fashioned shoulder charge but referee Oliver Langford throught otherwise.
Robbie Brady, a quality player on loan from manchester United, sent Scott Loach the wrong way from the penalty spot midway through the first half.
Town regrouped, went back to their favoured 4-4-2, and made it difficult for Hull.
The game swung when Anthony Wordsworth, back after a back injury, replaced the battered Jay Tabb and Town were a lot livelier in midfield.
Wordsworth was poetry itslef as he drifted in behind defender James Chester and headed in an Aaron Cresswell cross 11 minutes after the break.
The Blues threatened to go on and win theagme but never seriously troubled David Stockdale, while Hull were not much of a danger either.
That was until Wordsworth made a weak clearance from a corner back to Brady who played in a cross with the outside of his boot and Robert Koren had the freedom of the area to head in City’s winner.
It was a shame for Town to lose their clean sheet record and the game but we have a chance to put things right against Palace on Tuesday. COYB.
