Dick Whittington wore a mask but Ipswich could not disguise their delight at the shameless robbery of three points at Derby.
Town would have been more than happy to settle for apoint even before Carlos Edwards banged in a winner three minutes into time added on.
The Rams had missed a fourth successive penalty when Jamie Ward’s spot kick was superbly saved by Scott Loach, who had a blinder.
Conor Sammon was denied by the woodwork and Chris Martin had a goal ruled out for offside as it was Town’s day.
Ipswich had a couple of efforts but in the main it was all County even though David McGoldrick’s rising drive was held by Frank Fielding, while Daryl Murphy just failed to connect with Edwards’ low centre.
A minute before half-time Richard Keogh was pushed by Tommy Smith who had already been booked but escaped a red card while Town escaped further punishment as Scott Loach made a superb save from Jamie Ward.
Town’s luck continued as Freeman was clearly fouled in the build-up to the late, late winner when Paul Coutts lost possession to substitute Guirane N’Daw and Edwards charged forward before hammering in a 20-yard shot past Fielding.
