Released Portsmouth midfielder Michael Brown and Wigan Athletic duo Chris Kirkland and Jason Koumas have all been linked with moves to Ipswich Town.

Some reports suggest that Town have offered a one year contract to Brown, who is a free agent after leaving Portsmouth. The 34-year-old, who joined Pompey from Wigan, netted 4 goals in 45 appearances this season for Steve Cotterill’s side. Not exactly a stranger to a card here and there, Brown could be viewed by Town manager Paul Jewell as the kind of combative midfielder needed to replace departed captain David Norris.

Two of Brown’s former Wigan team-mates have also been mentioned as potential targets for Ipswich. 30-year-old goalkeeper Kirkland, who had a brief loan spell at Leicester City towards the end of 2010, has been tipped as a potential replacement for Marton Fulop should the Hungarian leave Portman Road tihs summer. Meanwhile reports have also linked the Blues with midfielder Koumas, who was on loan with Cardiff City this season. The 31-year-old, formerly of West Bromwich Albion, is available on a free transfer after his contract at the DW Stadium was allowed to expire.
