Blues Can Cane Clarets

A relaxed Ipswich go to Burnley looking to experiment in the main, although there is a possibility of a top ten finish as a motivation.
Considering the Blues were bottom in November when Mick McCarthy took over it would be a remarkable turnaround and set down a marker for next season.

Vital Quotes:

Manager Mick McCarthy told the club website: “We want to win the game, of course, but it gives me a chance to have a look at a few players.
“There will certainly be a few changes from our point of view and I think Burnley may do the same.
“There are a few players that I haven`t had much of a look at in a match-situation, such as Tyrone Mings, Pat Kisnorbo and even young Elliott Hewitt.
“Elliott has done exceedingly well when he`s played, but we forget he`s still only 18 years old.
“Pat has been terrific around the place. He obviously wanted more game-time, but Tommy (Smith) and Chambo (Luke Chambers) have been performing brilliantly so it`s been hard to get him involved.
“But he`s been a model pro. He`s never sulked and I`ll tell you what, he`s kept Tommy and Chambo on their toes by the way he`s trained and that`s one reason why they`ve performed so well.”

Burnley Team News:

The good news for Town is Charlie Austen is still out after an appendix removal, but Dean Marney is set to start in midfield after signing a new two-year deal.
Michael Duff is out with a one-match suspension after being sent off during last weekend’s 2-1 win at Wolves, while David Edgar has been granted compassionate leave to return to his native Canada for the birth of his first child.
Should Kevin Long (groin) and Ben Mee (knee) fail to shake off their injuries then Burnley boss Sean Dyche will be without a recognised centre-back to partner skipper Jason Shackell.

Player to watch: Dean Marney

Dangerous

Ipswich Town Team News:

As McCarthy has indicated it is more about giving players a run out rather than any forced injuries but he may not change too much

Player to watch: Frank Nouble

In form and looking to finish strongly

Match Facts & Stats

Match Prediction:

Although there is nothing to play for in terms of going up or down, pride should ensure a competitive encounter but I go for a Blues win 2-1.
