Blues Boss Shown Door After Town Defeat

Birmingham City are seventh in the table after last night’s victory over the Tractor Boys but it did not help their manager Gary Rowett, who was this afternoon shown the door.

In Contrast, Ipswich Town fell to another away defeat and remain closer to those relegation places in 17th and yet manager Mick McCarthy, seems untroubled by the fans discontent.

Trillion Trophy Asia Limited made three new boardroom appointments on Monday and it seems to have cost Rowett his job. Director Panos Pavlakis said in a statement that they were sorry to lose Rowett after two years in charge but in football you can never stand still. Can’t you?

That is something Town cannot be accused of because we appear to be going backwards these days and the lack of activity at boardroom level would suggest that Mick Mccarthy has a job for life – or at least until his contract expires.

Now I have never been one to see a manager lose his job because I firmly believe that continuity is generally the key to success. That said, the Blues are really struggling at the moment and the natives are understandably getting very restless.

Last night, Town needed to bring on all their bench warmers on, in order to change the dynamics of the game and Williams, Sears and Pitman undoubtedly made a difference but the question remains, why were they not playing in the first place?

Our manager bemoans the late goal from Christophe Berra that was disallowed but if he looks objectively at it later, he will surely realise that he was seriously mistaken. Our centre back was clearly climbing all over the back of a Birmingham defender.

Next up is Wigan Athletic who find themselves in 23rd place and 7 points behind us in the table. Mick Mills suggested that it would be more preferable to win a game than draw two in succession away so anything less than a win at Wigan will simply not suffice.

We played with energy last night when the substitutions were made but it was a case of too little too late so on Saturday in Lancashire, manager Mick McCarthy must attack as if his job depended on it and you never know it just might?
