New boy Paul Anderson made an impressive start to his Ipswich career by showing good skill in setting up Town’s opener in their 2-1 friendly win at Crawley.

Anderson, signed in a swap deal with bristol City who took JET, dinked the ball over the defence for Daryl Murphy to net his third in a week to put the Blues ahead.

Dabid McGoldrick was part of a different second half team who extended the lead eight minutes after the break when he tucked away a penalty after being brought down by keeper Paul Jones.

Nicky Adams scored for Crawley at the Broadfield Stadium in front of a 1,029 crowd.

Ipswich went ahead in the ninth minute when Paul Anderson dinked the ball over two defenders and a patient Daryl Murphy waited for it to drop before slotting home.

Ipswich handed a trial to Tottenham Hotspurs’ South African international Bongani Khumalo who has had loan spells at Preston and Reading.

The 26-year-old defender, who played in the 2010 World Cup scoring against France, has trained with Blues this week.
