Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich are closing in on the play-offs after beating Blackburn.

Even though DJ Campbell almost scored on his return to FPR inside a minute, Luke Hyam took just four minutes to give the Tractor Boys the lead with just his second goal for his home-town club.

A deep cross by Aaron Cresswell was headed out by Tommy Spurr but only as far as Hyam who lashed in from the edge of the box.

Jordan Rhodes came back to remind Ipswich what they are missing after forcing him out of Portman Road by banging in his 11th goal of the season.

Town skipper Carlos Edwards knocked in Ipswich`s second after a goalmouth scramble.

A horrid howler by Rovers keeper Jake Kean helped the Tractor Boys to a comfortable victory.

Kean miscued a long ball forward by Tyrone Mings and Frank Nouble rolled the ball in for Town`s third.
