Keith Andrews will reject an offer by Ipswich to join Wolves in January. according to people in the know in the midlands.

Vital Football has learned initial talks between Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey and Andrews’ representatives have alreasy begun.

The six goals Andrews has scored for the Blues, plus his performances for the Republic of Ireland have impressed Eire’s former manager Mick McCarthy, along with a couple of other Premier League bosses.

Wigan and Swansea are reportedly keen on the 25-year-old but Wolves are favourites to sign him, even if they do get relegated.

Town boss Paul Jewell has admitted Ipswich are fighting a losing battle to sign Andrews who has made it clear he wants to leave Blackburn.

Going down to League One, or even being involved in a relegation battle will not do Town’s cause much good.
