Dundee United midfielder Scott Allan and Liverpool defender Daniel Ayala are the latest players rumoured to be interesting Ipswich Town.

Highly-rated teenager Allan, who has only recently broken into the Dundee United first team, is thought to have been watched by a number of English clubs during his side’s SPL match against St Mirren on Saturday. Reports suggest that Town are ready to start a bidding war for the 19-year-old, who has been capped by Scotland at U17 level.

Also mentioned as a possible target is Liverpool centre-back Ayala (pictured). The 20-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan with Championship rivals Hull City and Derby County, making 17 appearances for the Rams last season. Town are said to have shown interest in Ayala earlier in the summer and could be set to battle with Hull for his signature, but Premier League newcomers Swansea City are also said to be bidding for the Spanish U21 international.

Ipswich boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that he is still pursuing further additions to his team before next weekend’s home match against Hull. A new goalkeeper has now emerged as a priority following the departure of Marton Fulop to West Bromwich Albion, though the Town manager has however played down any suggestions that ex-Blue Richard Wright could make another return to Portman Road. The Blues are also in need of more defenders, with Stoke City’s Danny Collins and Real Zaragoza centre-back Victor Laguardia also linked in some recent reports.
