Adios Pablo! + Poll

Pablo Counago is free to join Swansea City after the Welsh club had a bid accepted by the Blues.

The Spaniard rejoined Ipswich two years ago from a fairly unsuccessful spell at Malaga after the Blues missed out on Franny Jeffers (shame, that). In his first season back he was unplayable, but last season he had far less success and only hit the net nine times.

Reports this morning claim that Swansea have had to come back with a second bid to tempt Town into selling. Although Ipswich have accepted a bid, Swans chairman Huw Jenkins says the deal is far from completion: The deal is still at the early stages. We have agreed a transfer fee with Ipswich, but nothing has been agreed with the player.

‘Paulo [Sousa, Swansea boss] has made no secret of the fact that he wants another striker to add competition up front. He believes Pablo fits the bill perfectly.’

In our latest poll we ask if it is the right decision to sell the 29-year-old, who only scored nine Championship goals last season.
